    A young mother had an overwhelming fear of birds,
    couldn't take the children for a walk in the park let alone go outside in the garden for fear the birds would "get her".
  • After two hypnotherapy and NLP sessions she phoned in, ecstatic, for the first time ever she had taken the children to the park (Western Springs) and fed the birds, EVEN the BIG ones, and ENJOYED it, laughing at her new found freedom and pleasure. Being able to take the children out instead of relying on her mum or friends she said was the best reward.

  • FLYING PHOBIA
  • A grandmother needed to fly to UK to see her grand children, whom she had never held or seen in person, and the joy of this was being ruined by impending feelings of terror and panic at the very thought of making that flight.
    During the first consultation deep relaxation and self hypnosis was taught. Also client was given a CD to practice for a week. At next visit, client was feeling more relaxed however still remained nervous at the very thought of flying.   • Stop Smoking - Many long term smokers have stopped smoking after just one session. It is very daunting for many smokers to even think about "giving up". One client said to me, 'I feel like it is my friend I rely on it, how am I going to get through the day without it?'
    In clinic the triggers, past and present that have caused you to start smoking and keep on smoking, are treated and eliminated with CBT and hypnosis therapy. It is far easier than you ever thought.

  • e.g. the client who was in his late 60’s, had continuously smoked for 40 years, and was smoking 35 to 40 cigarettes a day, stopped smoking permanently after one session. Many clients are ready to stop smoking immediately and do so, but sometimes there is a need to cut down first and then stop. Some clients achieve success after just one session, others need an extra session or two to kick the habit permanently. Everybody is different.

Maureen has two clinics which service Central Auckland and the North Shore. The St Lukes Hypnotherapy Clinic is ideally situated in St Benedicts Health Care Clinic, a pleasant and private atmosphere, and has free on street parking available outside clinic.

The Birkenhead Clinic is situated in peaceful private surroundings, enjoy peaceful sea views as you make your way there. The Clinic is just 10 minutes over the bridge from CBD, with free off street parking

What happens when you come along for Hypnotherapy?

In a pleasant and safe environment YOU and I discuss what it is that you want to achieve from your visit(s) to clinic, i.e. identifying your goal, when you come into clinic I want to know all about you, in order to give you the very best therapy. .

YOU feel relaxed, safe and secure, it is like sitting in your armchair at home or in the movie theatre, (only with your eyes closed) a part of you knows you are there, yet another part just escapes into the peaceful tranquil state of hypnosis, very very often clients say at the end of the session, WOW!!! that was marvellous, I felt like I'd had the most wonderful sleep, yet they can hear what I say, hear neighbourhood sounds, or sounds of other practitioners in the clinic, move in the chair to become more comfortable, ....

A VARIETY OF THERAPIES MAY BE USED, E.G. HYPNOTHERAPY, NLP, and EFT.

hypnotherapy : a gentle relaxing tranquil feeling where you can experience a sense of peace

NLP neuro linguistic: which refers to the way you think, the way you communicate, and the control of your emotions and behaviour patterns

What is HYPNOTHERAPY?

It is an altered state of awareness. When used therapeutically to correct an existing symptom or problem, it by-passes the critical factor of the conscious mind. It is similar to meditation or deep relaxation, but different because it is goal focused on a specific outcome, e.g. stopping smoking, stopping bad habits.

I have amalgamated 25 years of experience in hypnotherapy, NLP, EFT, crisis counselling, formal University study, into my work as a therapist, which will give you the benefit of wide experience and expertise.

HEALTH

I was scared when I had to make a presentation at work, my voice was shaky and I would just forget what to say I’d get all shaky … but after two hypnotherapy sessions, it was so easy, I was a tiny bit nervous at first, but then I just forgot about that and I got across what I needed to say and I felt so confident, it was like magic. I used to stutter all the time, Maureen showed me how to practice my vowel sounds and breathe properly. The hypnotherapy was very calming, and I’m able to talk on the phone now without choking in my words.

PANIC ATTACKS

I’ve been snapping at people at work, these awful feelings ares terrible, I just drag myself through the day, I’m scared and I don’t know when these feelings are going to come along, I was scared, but now I know the cause of why I was so scared, I couldn’t believe it, I’d forgotten about that, good heavens, it’s such a relief to know what it was, is that what it was that’s been causing it? Amazing ! (Client laughed).

NS: Central Auckland:
It’s weird, I feel calmer somehow, my flatmates are not so irritating to me I haven’t got that awful feeling so much any more, I listen to the CD and that helps.

SS: Mt Albert: I used to get this awful feeling that made me feel terrified, like it came out of nowhere, I was always worried that it was going to happen at work and I was having days off, but now those feelings just aren’t there any more. Maureen explained to me about panic and showed me diagrams of what happens, and that helped me to understand – the hypnosis was great I felt much better even after the first appointment, and now I’m free of all that.

STOP SMOKING

That was magic, I’ve never felt so relaxed. Thank you so much. (client threw cigarettes away in my office) and two months later has not smoked a cigarette, and has had no cravings. He stated that he feels liberated.

I’m now getting all the sleep I need, it took three sessions, after the first session I slept all through the night the first three nights which was amazing, I haven’t slept like that for ages. After the first three nights, I started waking up some nights again, so I had another couple of sessions and it’s okay now, I enjoy going to bed now, I used to lay awake and worry about being able to get to sleep, and to get enough sleep, but now it’s so different.
